अथ
पण्डितराजश्रीजगन्नाथविरचिते
भामिनीविलासे ।
प्रास्ताविकविलासः ।
दिगन्ते श्रूयन्ते मदभलिनगण्डाः करटिनः
करिण्यः कारुण्यास्पदमसमशीलाः खलु मृगाः ।
इदानीं लोकेऽस्मिन्ननुपमशिखानां पुनरयं
नखानां पाण्डित्यं प्रकटयतु कस्मिन्मृगपतिः ॥ १ ॥
पुरा सरसि मानसे विकचसारसालिस्खल-
त्परागसुरभीकृते पर्यासि यस्य यातं वयः ।|
स पल्वलजलेऽधुना मिलदनेकमेकाकुले
मरालकुलनायकः कथय रे कथं वर्तताम् ॥ २ ॥
1 There are, it is heard, elephants with their
temples dirty with ichor, (away) at the end of the
quarters; the she-elephants (are only ) worthy of
pity; while the deer certainly are not of the same
As it is, on whom in this world shall the lion
now display the skill of his incomparably sharp talons ?

2 The leader of the flock of swans, whose 1ife is
hitherto passed in the Mäna sa lake, in its water render-
ed fragrant with the pollens dropping from the many
fully-opened lotus-flowers,-how can he, pray, now live
in the water of a puddle crowded with an ever-íncreas-
ing mass of frogs ?
