SUVRATA I   A King of Bharata dynasty. He was the son of Kṣema and father of Viśvajit, [Bhāgavata, Skandha 1] .
SUVRATA II   A King of the Aṅga royal dynasty. He was the son of King Uśīnara who begot of his wife Nṛgā the son called Nṛga, Nara by his wife, Narā; Kṛmi by the wife Kṛmī; Daśa by the wife Suvratā and Śibi by his wife Dṛṣadvatī. [Agni Purāṇa, Chapter 277] .
SUVRATA III   Son of the brahmin Somaśarman. (For details see under Dharmāṅgada).
SUVRATA IV   A muni of ancient days who lived in North India. He was extraordinarily effulgent and reputed. [Vana Parva, Chapter 90, Verse 12] .
SUVRATA V   One of the two attendants given to Subrahmaṇya by Mitradeva, the other one being Satyasandha. [Śalya Parva, Chapter 45, Verse 41]
SUVRATA VI   One of the two attendants given to Subrahmaṇya by Vidhātā, the other one being Sukarman. [Śalya Parva, Chapter 45, Verse 42] .

सुव्रत n.  पुलह एवं श्र्वेता का एक पुत्र ।
सुव्रत II. n.  (सो. उशी.) एक राजा, जो मत्स्य एवं वायु के अनुसार उशीनर राजा का पुत्र था [वायु. ९९.२०] ।
सुव्रत III. n.  एक आचार्य, जिसे पराशर ऋषि ने ‘पराशर स्मृति’ कथन की थी ।
सुव्रत IV. n.  (सो. मगध. भविष्य.) एक राजा, जो भागवत एवं ब्रह्मांड के अनुसार क्षेम राजा का, एवं विष्णु के अनुसार क्षेम्य राजा का पुत्र था । वायु एवं मत्स्य में इसे क्रमशः ‘भुव्रत’ एवं ‘अनुव्रत’ कहा गया है । इसके पुत्र का नाम धर्मसूत्र था । इसने ६४ वर्षों तक राज्य किया [भा. ९.२२.४८] ।
सुव्रत IX. n.  विधातृ के द्वारा स्कंद को दिये गये दो पार्षदों में से एक । दूसरे पार्षद का नाम सुकर्मन् था ।
सुव्रत V. n.  (सो. मगध. भविष्य.) एक राजा, जो वायु के अनुसार नृपति राजा का पुत्र था ।
सुव्रत VI. n.  रौच्य मनु का एक पुत्र, जो मृत्यु के पश्चात् षष्ठी नामक देवी की कृपा से पुनः जीवित हुआ [ब्रह्मवै. २.४३] ।
सुव्रत VII. n.  एक ऋषि, जिसने विदूरथ राजा को कुर्जृभ राक्षस की जानकारी बतायी थी [मार्क. ११३] ।
सुव्रत VIII. n.  मित्र के द्वारा स्कंद को दिये गये दो पार्षदों में से एक । दूसरे पार्षद का नाम सत्यसंध था [म. श. ४४.७] ।
सुव्रत X. n.  ०. एक राजा, जो पूर्वजन्म में विदिशा के रुक्मभूषण राजा का पुत्र था [पद्म. भू. २०-२२] ।

सुव्रत  mfn.  ( -तः-ता-तं) Virtuous, strict, rigidly observing any religious vow or obligation.

1. The twentieth Jina of the present age; also named Munisuvrata.
2. One of the Jainas of the future era.
3. The religious student.

1. The mother of the fifteenth Jaina of the present age.
