कम् [kam]   ind. Ved. A particle used as an expletive or enclitic.

To love, be enmaoured of, be in love with; कन्ये काम- यमानं मां न त्वं कामयसे कथम् [Kāv.1.63] (an instance of ग्राम्यता); कलहंसको मन्दारिकां कामयते [Māl.1.]
To long for, wish, desire; न वीरसूशब्दमकामयेताम् [R.14.4.;] निष्क- ष्टुमर्थं चकमे कुबेरात् 5.26;4.48;1.53; [Bk.14.82.]

कम्  n. 1.ind. (Gk.κεν) well (opposed to अ-कम्, ‘ill’), [TS.]; [ŚBr.] &c.
कम्   a particle placed after the word to which it belongs with an affirmative sense, ‘yes’, ‘well’ (but this sense is generally so weak that Indian grammarians are perhaps right in enumerating among the expletives, [Nir.]; it is often found attached to a dat. case, giving to that case a stronger meaning, and is generally placed at the end of the पाद, e.g.अ॑जीजन ओ॑षधीर् भो॑जनाय क॑म्, thou didst create the plants for actual food, [RV. v, 83, 10]), [RV.]; [AV.]; [TS. v]
कम्   is also used as an enclitic with the particles नु, सु, and हि (but is treated in the पद-पाठ as a separate word; in this connection has no accent but once, [AV. vi, 110, 1]), [RV.]; [AV.]
