अवदाहः [avadāhḥ] हम् [ham]   हम् [अवसादितो दाहो येन; प्रा˚ ब˚]
 N. N. of the root of a plant. Andropogon muricatum. (वीरण; Mar. वाळा).
Burning down, heat; ˚इष्टकापथम् the root of the वीरण plant.

अवदाह  n.  (-हं) The root of a fragrant grass, (Andropogon muricatum.)
E. अव reverse, and दाह heat, burning, heat-preventing, from its being used in Tātis or screens, placed before doors, &c. kept con- stantly wet: the air passing through these, blows into a room cool and refreshing.
